Mikko Multamäki

Mikko Multamäki started his double bass studies at the Turku Conservatory under Peter Grans. Studies continued at the Sibelius Academy with Olli Kosonen. Multamäki completed the A course in autumn 1996 with excellent grades. The most important solo performances have been Rautavaara's concerto (2008) and Tubin's concerto (2018) with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, and Bottesin's Grand Duo (2006) with the Lohja City Orchestra. In master classes, Multamäki has been taught by e.g. Jorma Katrama, Duncan McTier and Todor Toshev. Mikko Multamäki was hired as Tapiola Sinfonietta's sub-principal in 1993.

Since 2001, Mikko has been the section principal of double bass in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. Mikko is also a member of the Turku Ensemble and an active chamber musician. Multamäki plays an instrument built by Armando Piccagliani in Modena from 1927.
