Pekka Laamanen

I received my first cello on March 3rd, 1966, and since then, playing the cello has been a significant part of my life. My first teacher was quite close to me, as my father was also a cellist. After a few years, it became clear that in order to maintain household peace, it was best to transfer to the Espoo Music Institute, where I studied until 1979. In 1980, I obtained my first orchestral position in the Oulu City Orchestra, where I remained until 1987. From there, I moved to the Kotka City Orchestra as the principal cellist. The move to Turku became relevant at the end of January 1980, and since then, I have been a cellist with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.
