Vesa-Matti Loiri TPO´s soloist in February

Vesa-Matti Loiri performs in February with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. Thu. 1st and Fri. 2nd. of  February, 7 pm at the Turku Concert Hall can be heard Loiri giving a touching Path of the poet -concert. Long-awaited concert will be one of the special highlights of the coming season. Full programme for the spring season 2018 will be published on Wednesday 15th Nov. 2017. Ticket selling for the Poet’s Way concert opens on Thu. 19th Oct. Tickets can be purchased from the Ars Musica shop at the Concert Hall and also from licenced Lippupiste offices and online.

 

Vesa-Matti Loiri’s Path of the poet (Runoilijan tie) production arranged for symphony orchestra has sold out shows all over Finland. Delicate concert consists of songs based on Eino Leino’s poetry arranged by the guitarist Peter Lerche. Path of the poet has been recorded as an album in 2015. All the songs from the album like Lapin kesä, Elegia and Väliaikainen will be heard in the concert. Esa Heikkilä conducts the concerts.

 

Vesa-Matti Loiri is a Finnish actor and musician who is widely regarded as one of the Finland’s most versatile entertainers. He has touched the feelings of the nation a multitude of times during his long career spanning over 50 years. An exceptional artist and an entertainer at his native home but also in a larger scale when looking at the length and diversity of his career. His albums have been sold over 600 000 copies just during the 2000’s and over a million during the whole career. 

 

Peter Lerche is one of the best known guitarists in Finland. During his long career he has worked with Karita Mattila, Hector, Pekka Pohjola and Pave Maijanen e.g. He has played with UMO Jazz Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and on hundreds of records. Lerche has studied Indian rhythm methods since 1995 at Chennai and Mumbai. In 2016 he published a guitar application “The IndiaLesson”. Lerche has worked as a conductor and arranger for Vesa-Matti Loiri’s band since 1994.

 

Esa Heikkilä has been the artistic director of the Lohja City Orchestra since 2010 and holds the position until 2018. He has also lead Vivo symphony orchestra since 2003 which is an orchestra comprised of young and talented top musicians. In 2014 Heikkilä was awarded Aukusti prize of Etelä-Suomen Sanomat for the work done for Lahti musical life. Esa Heikkilä is also the artistic director of Lohja Tenor Days. He has conducted several Finnish and international orchestras.
