TPO performs Viennese classics with Julian Rachlin

On Thursday 15th and Friday 16th of March at 7 pm in the Concert Hall Turku Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Viennese Classical gems with principal guest conductor Julian Rachlin. As a soloist we will hear pianist Eldar Nebolsin. The programme consists of Gioachino Rossini´s, Ludwig van Beethoven´s and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart´s music.

Before thursday´s concert we will enjoy a Tasty Tones evening, where music scholar Susanna Välimäki explores composers´ culinary preferences at a talk before each concert in the series, with a chance to sample delicacies related to the night´s programme. Välimäki lectures in Finnish. On thursday we will taste the dishes that Beethoven liked the most. There will be bread soup, Käsespätzle (macaroni and cheese) and almond pudding with alcohol marinedad strawberries. "Beethoven enjoyed everything with cheese, and alcohol. He also liked normal, everyday food. Almond pudding was a common dessert in the 18th century Vienna, and it was especially one of Mozart´s favorite dishes", comments Välimäki on the evenings menu.

Tasty Tones at 5.30 pm in the upper foyer on Thursday. Concerts on Thursday and Friday at 7 pm in the Concert Hall. Ticket for the Tasty Tones evening 17,50€ and concert tickets 23,50 / 18,50 / 9,50 €.
