Kari Kriikku, clarinet

Charles Ives: The Unanswered Question
Kimmo Hakola: Clarinet Concerto
György Ligeti: Melodien for Orchestra
Magnus Lindberg: Tempus fugit

Spatial music, tonal colour and layered harmonies: celebrating new and otherwise modern music, this programme presents works by celebrated modern and contemporary composers. Kari Kriikku’s incredible virtuoso musicianship inspired Hakola’s Clarinet Concerto. It is a work full of colourful surprises and good-natured antics. Ligeti’s music is familiar from films by Stanley Kubrick. His lovely Melodien is followed by Lindberg’s essay on layered time, which was enthusiastically received at its premiere by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra on 6 December 2017.

The length of the concert is approx. 2 h.

Thu 29th anf Fri 30th of November at 7 pm in the Concert Hall.
