Turku Health Care Services

Health care

A person's health and well-being is affected by many different factors. The City of Turku's Welfare Division aims at promoting the Turku citizens' health by providing preventive health care services, medical checks, rehabilitation services and elderly care services.

The health stations and emergency service

The health station is determined by one's street address (home address) and the postal number. The primary point of care is the client's own health station on weekdays (Mon-Fri) between 8 am and 4 pm. At all other times, the patient in need of urgent care should contact the On-Call Service. The nurses give advice on phone 24 hours, at number (02) 10023. Contact the same number also for information about which health station you should turn to.

Hospitals

The citizens are provided with a variety of different health services including the services of the local private sector, which has several facilities in the city. The Turku University Hospital and the Turunmaa Hospital are units of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland.
