Our spring chamber music series begins with a quartet/quintet selection from various eras at Turku Castle. Shaw, who hails from New York, is the youngest ever winner of the Pulitzer Prize; her hypnotic Entr’acte transports the listener to the border zone between traditional harmony and new sounds. Friends of string music will also enjoy Kodály’s String Quartet no. 2, completed during the First World War. The year 2022 marks the 140th anniversary of Kodály’s birth. Schumann’s quintessentially Romantic Piano Quintet completes the programme.
