Earthy music by Piazzolla frames exquisite new contemporary pieces for flute, viola and harp. Aho’s Syringa was inspired by the tale of the Sirens and by Debussy. Räihälä explores the world of spoken Italian and microintervals, challenging the performers to embrace a new kind of expression and stage presence.
Before the recital, at 14.00, composer Osmo Tapio Räihälä talks about his new book Miksi nykymusiikki on niin vaikeaa [Why contemporary music is so difficult] at Turku Castle Church.
The length of the concert is about 1 h. No intermission.
