Up and coming conductor Tomas Djupsjöbacka opens this programme with the iconic Overture from Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Berg’s seven early songs are a collection of subtle, lyrical pieces occupying middle ground between late Romanticism and atonality. They are performed here by Erica Back, rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after singers of her generation in Finland. After the interval, the evening concludes with Bruckner’s massive Fourth Symphony.
