William Walton: Hamlet & Ophelia from the movie Hamlet (1948)
Robert Schumann: Piano Concerto A minor op. 54
Dmitri Šostakovitš: Symphony no. 10 E minor op. 93
The end of October offers grand emotions, thick harmonies and mellow timbre. Walton´s Hamlet & Ophelia is filled with misfortunate love and tender feeling. Schumann´s full romantic and only piano concerto was completed at first as a short fantasy but later it grew into a full concerto thanks to inspiration by pianist wife Clara. Fear and despair of Soviet Union in Stalin´s age is echoing in Shostakovich´s roaring symphony.
The length of the concert is approx. 2 h 30 min.
