Richard Wagner: Siegfried Idyll
Richard Wagner: Wesendonck Lieder
Richard Strauss: Metamorphosen
The new concert season is ushered in with music by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and Wesendonck-Lieder are the most frequently performed of his works that are not operas. The cycle of five songs setting poems by Mathilde Wesendonck is performed by the wonderful Anna Danik, who appeared in the role of Luonnotar in the opera Die Kalewainen in Pochjola by Müller-Berghaus, produced in Turku in 2017. Strauss’s Metamorphosen for solo strings is a devastating work born out of the devastation of the Second World War.
The length of the concert is about 1 h 15 min. No intermission.
