Jasmine Beams

Jasmine Beams has been the Solo Viola of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra since 2015.

She began university studies in music on scholarship at age 15 at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. She graduated with her Bachelor’s of Music under the tutelage of professor Alan deVeritch. During her time there, she went on to lead the university’s orchestras viola sections and also did international tours with prestigious festival orchestras such as Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra based in Germany and the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra based in Japan.

After completing her Bachelor’s degree, graduating with the distinction of being nominated for the Performer’s Certificate, she did post-graduate study on full scholarship with Nokuthula Ngwenyama and performed with the Indianapolis Symphony. Later she attended the University of Wisconsin on a full scholarship to be a part of the student resident quartet under the guidance of the Fine Arts String Quartet and played with the Milwaukee Symphony. In 2011 Jasmine had the unique opportunity to be in the Youtube’s first Symphony Orchestra which was held in Sydney. In 2012 she began studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany. Jasmine has performed in the position of Principal Viola in the Finnish National Opera and the Australian Chamber Orchestra and has been teaching students through the Sibelius Academy.
