Matteo Mastromarino

Matteo Mastromarino was born in Statti, Italy, and began his musical journey at the age of three with his father. He graduated as a clarinetist in 2012 under the guidance of Antonio Tinelli. He has also studied under Alessandro Carbonare at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and graduated with a master's degree from the class of Romain Goyot at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva. Mastromarino has been awarded in various international competitions such as the Accademia Musicale Pescares, Ciro Scarponi, Saverio Mercadante, Marco Fiorindo, the Malta Woodwind Competition, and the Lisbon International Clarinet Competition.

In 2014, he became an official member of the Academy of Collegium Musicum Schloß Weißenstein in Pommersfelden, and the following year, he was invited to perform as a soloist in Weber's Clarinet Concerto in F minor. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and the Magna Grecia Orchestra.

Mastromarino has collaborated with orchestras such as the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Les Dissonances, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice in Geneva, Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, Vicenza Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico, and Orchestra Luigi Cherubini.

He has also worked with conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Juraj Valchua, Jeffrey Tate, John Axelrod, Hannu Lintu, Nathalie Stutzmann, Andris Poga, Shlomo Mintz, Alexander Lonquich, Carlo Rizzari, and Giampaolo Pretto. Mastromarino has performed at various prestigious venues and festivals worldwide.

On June 22, 2016, the President of the Chamber of Deputies in Italy awarded Mastromarino on International Music Day. Since February 2020, Mastromarino has served as the principal clarinetist of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. He plays a Buffet-Crampon Tosca clarinet.
