Megumi Nakazawa

Megumi Nakazawa was born in Nagano, Japan.  Megumi started playing the piano at the age of 3 and the trumpet at the age of 11 in the school´s wind orchestra. She was into playing in the wind orchestra and played there for 9 years. Before deciding to become a professional musician she took her bachelor degree in education at Yamagata university, Japan, and took trumpet lessons by Naoki Inoue. After graduating there, Megumi moved to Switzerland for her Master studies at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste under prof. Frits Damrow. She also took baroque trumpet lesson by Simon Lilly and Heinz Saurer. During her studies she won the highest prize of 35ème Concours National d'exécution Musicale and the third prize of 38th Kiwanis Wettbewerb, both in Switzerland.

Megumi also participated Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and Pacific Music Festival. She received her Master of music with highest honors in 2012. In season 2013-14 she was a member at the orchestra academy of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and gained valuable experience there. She has also performed with such orchestras as the Orchestra of Opernhaus Zürich, Norwegian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

In 2014-2017 Megumi was principal trumpet player in Vaasa City Orchestra and since 2017 she has held the position of sub-principal trumpet at the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.
