Mervi Huttunen

Mervi Huttunen began her musical education at the age of eleven in Mikkeli. Although she first wished to play the flute, she has no regrets eventually choosing the French horn. After high school, she moved to Helsinki and entered the University of Applied Sciences and the Sibelius Academy. She passed the level A studies with honors in 2007 and received her Master of Music in 2008. During her last Academy year, she also studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. After studies, Huttunen worked at the Norske Opera in Oslo, in Bergen Filharmoniske Orkestret, and in the Philharmonisches Orchester der Hansestadt in Lübeck, before returning back to Finland in 2011. From the fall of 2011 onwards, she has played the horn at the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.
