Helena Juntunen, soprano

Richard Strauss:
Death and Transfiguration op. 24
Vier letzte Lieder
Don Juan op. 20
Rosenkavalier Suite

Chief Conductor Leif Segerstam opens the spring with a handsome programme of Richard Strauss. The magnificent soprano Johanna Rusanen performs Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder, Four Last Songs, an essay in the serene acceptance of approaching death. The final song includes a quote from the composer’s tone poem Death and Transfiguration, also on this programme. The grandiose tone poem Don Juan leads the listener on a journey from vigour to melancholy, and the programme finishes off with a suite of music from the opera Der Rosenkavalier, one of the world’s most frequently performed operas.

The length of the concert is approx. 2 h.
