TPO has won International Classical Music Awards –award with Sibelius recording

Turku Philharmonic Orchestra has won International Classical Music Awards –award with recording of Jean Sibelius´ Incidental Music. The ”Sibelius: Incidental Music” collection of six CD:s recorded under the baton of Chief Conductor Leif Segerstam won the price for Best Collection. The recording was made during years 2014–2015 with record company Naxos. ICMA, International Classical Music Award, is an association of Europe´s important music magazines and radio stations. The association is the only independent instance to deliver annual prices for classical music recordings and other acknowledgments.

The CD-collection is described in ICMA:s website as follows: “The box of incidental music of Jean Sibelius reveals hidden treasures, full of theatrical atmosphere and emotions as well as interesting reminiscences of the composer’s more familiar masterworks. The Turku Philharmonic orchestra and Leif Segerstam dig deep into this rich theatrical sound world, captivating meaningful details and colourful sound.”
